Creative Movement

Required Uniform:

Description: For preschool students who turn 4 by October 15. This class meets once per week for forty-five minutes. These students explore joyful creative movement, classical music, pantomime and make-believe. They will also learn basic posture, classroom structure and attention skills.

Maximum class size: 8 students

Pre-Ballet 

Required Uniform:

Description: For kindergarten students who turn 5 by October 15. This class meets once per week for forty-five minutes. These students learn the basic ballet positions while building strength, flexibility and coordination in an environment that emphasizes mental focus, etiquette and musicality.

Maximum class size: 8 students

Tuition: $950

Ballet I 

Required Uniform:

Description: For children ages 6, 7 and 8 with Pre-ballet or no prior experience. This class meets once per week for one hour. These students begin to experience formally constructed classes, including center work, as well as the technique and discipline of traditional ballet.

Maximum class size: 10 students

Tuition: $1050

Ballet II 

Required Uniform:

Description: For students ages 7, 8 and 9 who have completed Ballet I, or students ages 10 and above with no previous training. This class meets once per week for one hour.  Students who are eager to receive extra training may sign up for both Ballet II classes and take class twice per week for one hour. Students expand their understanding of basic ballet technique and continue to develop a foundation for strength and proper alignment. 

*Our older beginner students are placed in the Saturday Ballet II Class.

Maximum class size: 12 students

Tuition: $1050 (once per week) or $2100 (twice per week)

Ballet III

Required Uniform:

Description: For intermediate students by invitation or audition only. This class meets twice per week for one hour and fifteen minutes.  These students are introduced to more intricate steps and combinations, including jump and turn sequences, that provide a foundation for intermediate ballet.

Tuition: $2100

 

Ballet IV

Required Uniform:

Description: For intermediate students by invitation or audition only. This class meets twice per week for one hour and fifteen minutes.  These students refine their technical skills while developing artistry.

Level A1

Required Uniform:

Description: For intermediate/advanced students by invitation or audition only. This class meets three times per week for an hour and a half.  It is intended for first-year or second-year Level A students who are not yet en pointe. 

Level A is the start of our upper school. Students earn their placement in the upper school through dedication, grace and mindfulness. Those who have achieved exemplary attendance, proper foot alignment, ankle strength and mastery of fundamental technique may be invited to dance en pointe at the end of the school year. 

Tuition: $2550

 

Level A2

Required Uniform:

Description: For intermediate/advanced students by invitation or audition only. This class meets for an hour and a half three times per week plus a one hour pointe class once per week.  It is intended for second-year or third-year Level A students who have been invited to dance en pointe.  Students are encouraged to explore artistry and musicality, and experience the challenge and well-earned joy of dancing en pointe.  

Tuition: $2800

 

Level B1

Required Uniform:

Description: This class is for advanced students who are well-accomplished in ballet technique including pointe work.  By invitation or audition only.  This class meets three times per week. Each class will include some pointe work.

Tuition: $3100

Level B2

Required Uniform:

Description: This class is for advanced students who are well-accomplished in ballet technique including pointe work.  By invitation or audition only.  Students in this level take class four days per week. Two class sessions are focused on slow, methodical work, and the other two class sessions are combined with Level C and are focused on advanced technique.

Tuition: $3350

 

Level C

Required Uniform:

Note: These dancers are allowed to wear any color leotard on Fridays!

Description: Our most advanced students. By invitation of the Director only. Students are expected to display leadership, dedication and inspire the younger students.  Students in this level should take Level C class four days per week, but are encouraged to take at least one additional Level B class en pointe per week.

Dancers in Level C will experience:

  • (NEW) Balanchine repertoire class (!) with Paul Boos, a Balanchine Trust Répétiteur;

  • Master Teacher Olga Kostritzky, a veteran of The School of American Ballet faculty for twenty years;

  • Contemporary movement with Jake Casey;

  • Classical repertoire with Erika Lee;

This level will go on one field-trip per year to see a professional ballet company perform.
