Our Policies

Placement

Class placement is at the discretion of the director and is based on previous training and degree of seriousness and not necessarily by age. Placement auditions are held before the start of each school year by appointment. To make an appointment email us at theballetclass@gmail.com. There is a $25 audition fee.

Tuition

Our annual tuition is paid in two installments (60% is due upon enrollment and the remaining 40% is due on December 1st). We accept credit card payments through our secure online system. Please email us at theballetclass@gmail.com for more information. We offer a sibling discount of 5% for families with multiple students. *Tuition is non-refundable.*

Attire

We have a Required Uniform at The Ballet Class. All Required Uniform information can be found on our Levels page with links for online purchasing. Alternatively, you can visit Beam and Barre in Cos Cob or Repertoire Dance Shop in Scarsdale if you prefer to shop for these items in person.

Hair must be secured neatly in a high bun at the crown of the head. Jewelry is not permitted, aside from stud earrings, as jewelry can be a distraction to students.

Gentlemen must wear a white t-shirt, black footed tights, and well-fitted black leather split sole slippers for all levels.

Tardiness

Students should arrive fifteen minutes before class to stretch and warm-up. Arriving after your class has started is disruptive to the teacher and the other students. Students who arrive late must stop by the office before entering the class. Dancers will be asked to sit and take notes if they are later than ten minutes.

Recital

If your dancer is in Ballet III or above and misses more than three assigned Sunday rehearsals, then your dancer will not be able to perform in the recital. An absent dancer impacts the staging of the show and affects the ability of the other dancers to learn their stage patterns and choreography. See the FAQ page for further discussion on our philosophy around Sunday rehearsals
